Grooovy One!

This months theme was a fun one for me. Who doesn’t love bell bottoms, disco balls and all things groovy girlie? I know I couldn’t resist while planning my daughters first birthday party. The Groovy One theme jumped out and had to be done! Such a fun theme for the dead of summer. After doing lot’s of pinterest research and scouring the internet for decor, I couldn’t find anything exactly out there that was going with what I had envisioned in my head. So, I did what I do best. I took all the bits and pieces of colors and items I loved, and threw together a mood board, and alive came our pastel groovy one theme!

We’ll start with the invitation. I fell in love with the color scheme from the invite pictured on the mood board immediately. I found it originally on pinterest, but found the shop that sold the file on etsy! Super affordable, editable on your own computer, and easy to send out via text to your party goers. The best part is, this lovely shop sells party collections! So I was also able to snag a personalized file that could be edited to whatever I wanted it to say, that matched my invitations perfectly! (I used mine for a sign for my party favors).

Now for my favorite part… the decorations! I went a little light on decorations and stuck to a few statements instead. Starting with the cutest pastel balloon arch. This affordable amazon set came with all the pastel colors, and included a bunch of daisy balloons in various sizes as well. The set came with so many balloons, I was able to make the main back drop arch, a few smaller bunches for pop up tents, and a small bunch with my 1 balloon. I hosted our party outside, and wanted to add a little something extra fun to sit on while my one year old opened her presents. I found this super cute daisy rug on amazon for only $10! I figured, why not! I would use it inside after the party. This exact rug is no longer available, but I will link one similar! Always one of my favorites, disco balls. I found an affordable pack on amazon in various sizes that I used to throw on my tables. Such a fun little accent for a groovy theme! I also went with iridescent touches to go along with the disco ball vibe and also matching with my pastel color pallet. I found a pack of iridescent table clothes on amazon that worked perfect! They we’re affordable, good quality, and so cute! Along with these table clothes, I added light pink table runners as well. They were affordable and really added a nice touch to the tables. I found these cute iridescent disco ball looking plates that were perfect for small plates of food and desserts. I also found these cute pastel flower plates that would fit the theme nicely if that’s more your style! For the cake topper and cupcakes, I actually designed my own toppers. I saw some out there that were cute, but weren’t totally fitting my vibe. These guys turned out so cute that they were added to my shop to sell! One for the smash cake that was used during her first birthday shoot, and the other for her party itself. I found iridescent acrylic sheets on amazon and was able to make the cutest cupcake toppers with smileys, flowers and peace signs. These guys will also be available for purchase in my etsy shop linked below! Lastly, I personally went with a last minute etsy purchase for a high chair banner that I didn’t love. At the time of party planning, there wasn’t anything out there that matched my vibe that wasn’t super expensive, and I didn’t have the time to try to DIY one that I was envisioning. While looking in preparation for this blog, I found the cutest tassel one on amazon that was exactly what I was looking for! I went ahead and linked that one. If that was available last summer, it would have absolutely been my top choice! So cute, and totally adds to those cute little cake smash pictures!

Since my kiddo was only one, we went simple with party favors. I found this cute smaller pack of flower sunglasses that came with a kit including glue, flowers and letters to add your name to your sunglasses! I thought this would be a fun and cute favor for the kiddos of all ages to be able to take home and use again the rest of the summer. The quality of the glasses was great, and they all turned out so cute! Highly recommend. You could also do bubbles, or other smaller little items if that better suits you. One other thing I highly considered doing was a personalized coloring page for the kids to work on, but ultimately decided not to considering the age range of the kiddos we had invited. If you have older kids coming to celebrate, this is a super fun idea to leave out on a table for everyone to color on together! It can be ordered through etsy or amazon, or if you’re feeling groovy, DIY one on a long sheet of white butcher or craft paper!

The Groovy One theme is a hit. Such a cute theme for both spring and summer babies! The best part is, it can be customized for more than just the age of one. There’s Two Groovy, Three is a Vibe, ect. There’s tons of fun stuff out there to personalize for your kiddos specific age as well. This theme can be made simple and still be so cute, or go all out if that’s what you’re into and make a big backdrop, photo booth, ball pit, the whole 9. Either way, your kiddo will look cute as heck in some bell bottoms, and feel so loved and celebrated!
